Selsdon Garden Transformation – Patio, Step, and Fence Installation

A repeat customer in Selsdon contacted me to carry out improvements in his rear garden, specifically around the decking area. After discussing the requirements, we agreed to remove the existing decking and excavate the space, covering approximately 13–14 square metres.

Once cleared, I installed three 10-foot concrete posts, two concrete gravel boards, and two 6×6 close board fence panels with matching privacy trellis. To ensure a precise fit at the rear boundary, I cut down the gravel boards so they aligned correctly with the narrower section of the patio.

With the excavation complete, I installed a membrane and compacted sub-base materials. Around the patio perimeter, I laid Ashdown bricks in a stretcher bond pattern, incorporating a small step from the lawn to the patio. As the garden sloped, I built this step to level the transition and create a clean finish.

For the main patio surface, I installed Mint Multi paving slabs and pointed all joints using a sand and cement mix. Finally, I tidied the site, re-seeded the grass area, and treated the lawn for healthy regrowth.

The customer was very happy with the result and pleased with the transformation.
