I built a pond for my garden approx 19 years ago with brick and block work. I designed my own feature to have a seating area. 19 years on the render of the pond had become old and cracks had appeared into the render as it had been G4 rendered (G4 is a paint sealant).

I decided to update the pond and placed the fish in a temporary pool whilst working on the pond. I seeked assistance from a pond specialist who could fibre glass and place a window so that the fish would be visible. I began by removing the rear seating wall and the brick tops.

I smoothed off any sharp edges on the render. Before the work was going to commence I tested the bottom drain to ensure this was not leaking. I began to work on the pond and sent photos of progress to the specialist so he knew where I was at in order for him to commence the fibre glassing and window.

Once my part was done I placed Indian Stone slabs on top of the wall as a coping. Once the pond work was completed I transferred the fish into the pond and then decided a garden path would finish the look and add a small path to the outside of the pond as a feature.

I plan to work on the patio next.
