A repeat customer in Bexley requested me to begin stage 2 of the work they wanted carried out. I began by removing the existing fence at the rear and install a new fence with close board fence panels, concrete posts and gravel boards.
I removed the old wall and excavated the soil to make room for a new sleeper wall. Once the soil was excavated I added a small concrete footing for the first sleeper to be laid on cement. I placed the second sleeper on top in order to cross bond the bottom sleeper.
I began to dig post holes beyond the sleeper and cut four by four posts to place in the holes and fill with concrete. I timber locked the sleepers into the posts to stabilise the sleepers, beyond the sleepers I stapled membrane and at the back of the sleepers and around the post.
I screwed 12 mil ply beyond the posts to leave a cavity. I drilled drainage holes through the sleepers and through the ply and placed quarter inch pipes. In between the cavity I hammered down re-enforcing bars and poured concrete in between the cavity to have a nice solid wall. This is what I have done on previous sleeper jobs.
I then placed a membrane beyond the sleepers around the trees and filled with bark. I made good around the paving area in front of the sleepers. The left over sleeper I had I created a seat area to use up and make the garden look nice.
The customer was very happy with the work carried out
